Man, how crazy was all those baptisms? It
cut severely into my time because, well, that's way more. We had to extend all those songs.
But, yeah, you know what? I don't care because I think the what you just saw says a lot more than what I'm gonna say. So then we could almost just close in prayer and go home, but then I get paid to do this, so I probably should bring a message.
Hey, you know, there there is this this one time, these these couple old timey, old time pastors were standing on a side of road,
and they both had a sign as cars would go by. And one of them said, turn around now before it's too late. And the other one said, the end is near. And so someone drove by, they rolled down their windows, and they go, don't preach at me and tell me what to do with your religion. We're gonna
do what we wanna do. And they drove right by. And then about fifteen seconds later, you heard a screeching of brakes and the sound of a massive crashing splash. And that's when the one pastor looked to his friend and he says, you know, do you think maybe our signs should just say bridge out? And the reality is,
I think when someone comes and and and when you're preaching a message or or back the old testament prophets, when they would come with a message that said, repent.
Repent. It doesn't mean just stop or it means turn around and go the other way. A lot of people, and I think still today, when we come with a message that says, hey, you gotta turn to the Lord. You gotta turn some of y'all here
don't preach at me with your religion and tell me what to do. You don't hear the heart of what god is really saying is there is a bridge out, and you're never gonna get where you wanna go. There is only death ahead.
And this is actually trying to get you to realize go another way. The problem is sometimes your life is this pretty drive. It looks great. Traffic's awesome, and you're thinking, I'm getting where I wanna go. But what you don't know is up ahead, there is a chasm, there is a giant river, and there is no bridge.
And there is no way you're getting across that way. That's really what the gospel is. We're in this series, God, Man, King. We're looking at Matthew, and the book of Matthew, one of the four gospels, and it's about Jesus. And he came to be the bridge. And the message is we need to turn from where we're going
and go towards him as the bridge to get life.
That's We're in chapter three today, and what we're gonna see is a guy shows up just to set up, we're gonna see where Jesus gets baptized. We're gonna talk a little bit about what you guys just saw today in people getting baptized. And and it has there's two main characters. There's the guy named John, John the Baptist.
He comes on the scene, and then Jesus shows up. And what's happening is this is twenty years later from chapter two. Jesus is now a grown man, and he's coming he's gonna start his mission.
He's the God, but he's man. He's dove into our space and time. He's been living as a carpenter. He's been doing his thing, but now it's time. And so chapter three opens up with talking about this guy, John the Baptist. The Old Testament predicted
there would be one more prophet. John the Baptist is the last of the Old Testament prophets. The people of God have not heard from God through a prophet in four hundred years. There's been four hundred years of silence since the Old Testament was finished,
and now all of a sudden, this guy walks out, John dressed in camel skin, acting weird, walks right out of the wilderness, and he does what Isaiah 40 says. He he is a voice crying out of the wilderness, prepare the way for the Lord. He's holding the sign, turn around now. You know, it's it's time. The the the Lord, the Messiah King, who you've been looking for is here, and you need to prepare your heart. And what he was doing was he was baptizing people.
Now his baptism was one of repentance, to turn around. It was it was targeted at the people of God who knew the Lord. They knew god. They called god god, but they didn't live like he was lord.
And so the big idea I wanna see in Jesus' baptism and what our baptism about and what what does it mean to trust god is simply this, is if you call Jesus lord, follow him as lord. That's really what John was coming to say to people. Like, hey, if if if you say you know god,
do you follow him that he is god, that he is lord? Some of us will say, Jesus is Lord. And then you leave from here and you live the rest of your life and all of your days as if you're Lord. And he's saying that's not gonna work.
You gotta repent, which means you gotta turn around and go God's way again. But what I want us to understand is we do that from His love, and we see that in this baptism. So into this moment comes Jesus. Now this is a powerful moment. We'll see because one, this
story of Jesus being baptized is in all four of the Gospels. It's that important. It's repeated four times. All of the Gospel writers pick up on this. You're also gonna see that the whole band is together here. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The whole Trinity is gathered in this moment. They're all present
there. And here's what it says.
Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. But John tried to talk him out of it. I am the one who needs to be baptized by you, he said. So why are you coming to me? He's like, you don't need to repent. They're repenting to turn towards you. Why are you coming here? And Jesus said, it should be done for we must carry out all that God requires.
So he's being submissive to the Lord. He is God, but he says this was the father's plan. It's predicted. The Old Testament prophecies talk about it. It needs to be done. And what you're gonna see here in a minute is part of that why it needs to be done is because Jesus is also showing us the way. He is the God
man king. He's God who became man. He's the perfect man. The perfect He's gonna do what Adam and Eve failed to do and that what we failed to do. He is gonna walk out righteousness. Some of the translations say, so that all righteousness may be fulfilled. Meaning he's not just being God here.
He's literally being an example to us. Like next week, don't miss next week. He goes off right after this and ends up tempted by the devil. And it shows how he handles that, you're gonna see next week, is not in some, well, that's great because he's God. How he does it is he's showing us how we can do it.
He's the perfect example. So when he tells them that and part of that is this, I'm doing it just because God said to. Sometimes if if you believe the Lord is Lord, you're not gonna understand everything he asks you to do, and sometimes you just need to do it.
We always go, why? Once again, I don't understand. Why don't we do that? You know what we're acting like? Our kids. Having you at one point when your kid just keeps arguing and arguing, you know they just don't get it, so you finally say, you know why? Because I said so.
What you're saying is, I am ultimately your parent. I ultimately have the authority. You don't get it. Someday you will, but I don't need you to get it right now. I just need you to do it. And sometimes God is going to call us to that. And you know what? Us with the Lord, many of us, we act worse than our kids.
And so he's doing it. So John says, okay, I'll do it.
He says, after his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened. He saw the spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him. There's the Holy Spirit. And a voice from heaven, the father, said, this is my dearly loved son who brings me great joy.
You know why? Because he's walking out the mission. He's submitting to the plan for God. He's saying, I'm gonna do what God's asked me to do. And then there you have it. He gets baptized. But here's a good question. Even though Jesus did it just because it was the plan he did it, but why?
What was Jesus' baptism all about? He didn't need to be baptized. So why did he do it?
Well, simple. Why did Jesus get baptized? As an act of humble commitment and identification. There's a lot of theological things I can go on that I learned from cemetery I mean, seminary. And I summarized it into they all fit under this statement,
is there's these three things. It was a humble act of commitment and identification. What does that mean? Well, obviously, I already said. He was humble. He says, I am gonna follow the Lord's plan. It was prophesied. I am doing what the plan is. I am then not only saying it, it's humility.
He says, Jesus humbled himself by he's God, but he took on humanity. He became a man. That humbled himself. He lived in the world we live. He experienced what he experienced. So he was humble enough to say, I'm gonna go be with him. I'm gonna do this. And he was humble enough to say, John, you need to baptize me
to fulfill the father's plan. And because of that humility, it was also a commitment.
He says, I am now calling my shot. This moment is important because this is Jesus saying, here's the big idea of why I'm here. Just like I do a big idea before I do this. And I said, this is what we're gonna unpackage and hope you'll understand. This is what it's all about. So today is if you call Jesus Lord, do you live like he's Lord?
This is Jesus saying, this is what I'm do. This is who I am, and here's what I'm about to do, and then he goes and does it. This is the inauguration, the commitment
to his ministry that God's called him. He's saying, this is my mission. I'm now starting this ministry. And for three and a half years, everything he does from then on is not just to heal people. It's when you read the gospel, think Jesus is doing all these random things.
He was heading towards the cross and declaring the kingdom of God. That's what his mission was. And that's why baptism, down, up, death, burial, resurrection, that's what it is. Even though John's baptism is a little bit different, it was that repentance baptism. The symbolism was still the same.
And so he was making that commitment. And then the third thing is it's an identification. First, he was identifying. When he did that, he was calling a shot. He was saying, I am the God man king that you've been waiting for. And John is who he was. He was that prophet like Elijah that is the voice crying out,
I'm identifying with that. But like I said, he's also identifying with us.
I'm showing you how to live as a human in trust of God. And sometimes he says take this step, and you do. Because what you don't understand sometimes is this little step here is what's gonna get you on the footing that gives you the ability to take this step over here, and then this step over here.
And that is the way, as last week if you hear, I talked about how Jesus is wonderful counselor, and I said that's not as wonderful. It means wonderful means Does anyone remember what it means? Beyond our comprehension. Wonderful doesn't just mean good. Wonderful means the counsel He gives, sometimes we don't even get it.
And now God's counsel on the other side of that kind of wonder is wow, that did end up being a blessing.
But on this side, it makes no sense. On this side, I don't get it. And on this side, what he's asking me to take a step can be scary, hard, and I don't understand how that's ever gonna work. That's what faith is involved. That's where the commitment, you step into that.
Jesus was showing us the way in that. He was identifying with us to say, here's what we do. Especially like I said, the very next thing is he ends up attacked. And that's gonna happen. When you step towards God, there's an enemy that's gonna step in front of you. And you gotta know how to handle that too.
So that's Jesus' baptism. A humble act. An act of humble commitment and identification. Okay, so what does that have to do with us?
Because ours is ours is different. Right? It is. So so we gotta think about is is what is baptism for? Like, heard this story once. This drunk guy came along a baptism. This church was doing an old timey way. They were doing it in a river.
And and he stumbles down into the water, walks right up to the pastor, stands in front of him. And the pastor goes, son, do you wanna find Jesus? And he goes, sure. He grabs him and he baptizes him, pulls him up out of the water. Did you find Jesus? He's like, no.
So he sticks him under a little bit longer, pulls him up. Did you find Jesus? He goes, no. He sticks him under one more time, and this time the pastor's frustrated, so he holds him down for like twenty, thirty seconds. Pulls him up, he's like
gasping for air, and he goes, so son, surely you found Jesus now? And he goes, no, I didn't. Are you sure this is where he fell in?
Now that dumb joke, both of them were wrong about what the purpose of this baptism was. The drunk guy thought, I'm literally looking for somebody. And the pastor even assumed when we get baptized, we are actually pursuing Jesus. We're looking for him. Baptism isn't that. Baptism is not
an act I do to run after God and prove my trustworthiness and have him say, Look at me. See? You can bless me now because look at how much I love you. Baptism should be the first act we do after Jesus found you.
In other words, get ready to write because it's more complicated, the difference between our baptism and Jesus' baptism. What's ours? Here's the answer. It says, An act of humble commitment and identification. Wait,
what? That's the same thing. Bill's lazy in his sermon. I'm just gonna answer the same question with two different answers. Same answer for two different questions. But it's a little different, but it's the same thing. Since he identified, he's showing us the way. Baptism is a step for us that shows humility.
Because Jesus just says, Once you come to know me, this is the first thing I want you to do. And it's interesting how many of us drag our feet. If you know the Lord, if you have professed
Jesus as Lord and Savior in your life, you've turned from your sin, you've said He you've prepared in your heart, He's called you to Him and you see that, this is the first thing you're supposed to do. Why do so many of us drag our feet? There's usually a couple reasons. I don't feel I gotta get my act together.
Well, that's making it about you.
And the reason you drag your feet is you don't have humility. You think, you have And you think, well, that humility? I think I'm not worthy? Yeah, that's still not humility.
Because to think you have to be worthy, that's pride. Oh, wait, thinking you're not worthy is pride? I thought thinking you're better than everyone else is pride. They're both pride. Because pride by definition is I trust myself more than I trust God.
So even if you think I'm not worthy and you drag your feet, what you're saying is, I trust my problems more than God's power. I trust my view of myself more than God's grace. That's pride. Just like thinking I don't need to do it.
Just like thinking, you know, and some of you were baptized as an infant. Your parents did this for you. Awesome. But every baptism in the Bible was after you came to faith, because it is an act of humility. Well, when you're a baby, you don't know what they did it for. It has to be your choice.
So if you're saying I don't need to do it because I got sprinkled as a baby, or that one there was a video that one pastor just dumped the kid like that. You're like, wow, that guy's incompetent. Fine.
But you should choose to get into the waters yourself too. And if you're like, but my mom's gonna get mad at me for that. Why? You say, you're mad because I'm gonna make the same choice you made for me? How is that bad? That's not bad.
But the second thing is when you have that humility to say, I am declaring I'm a sinner, and the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus is the only way I can get there, it's also a commitment. And that's the other reason why some of you are afraid to get baptized, because you know what it means.
And you know I wanna believe in Jesus saving me, and I get to go to heaven and he saves me from my sins, but I'm not so sure I wanna commit to his mission in my life. And you kinda have that sense that if I go do that, it means I'm probably committing to that too.
And that's why I think he asked us to do this very real thing of active step faith forth. Baptism does not save you. But I have a really hard time understanding if someone really understood that how much God loved him and the first thing he asked you to do, you're not gonna do,
it starts to get questionable. Do you really believe in him?
And a lot of times when you live that way as a Christian, you're afraid of committing. That's why you struggle with sin and back and forth in and out of church all the time, because you wouldn't even trust him on the first simple step. There's no way you're gonna trust him on some of the other things he asked us to do.
And so some of you are dragging your feet on purpose. Because you know if I do that, there are some things I already know I'm supposed to trust God on, and I don't want to. And that's why I think God asked us to do it. It makes you confront some of those things. But when you do it first,
you're saying, as far as I understand, I understand God's love enough to know that I should trust him. And that's why the final thing is it's identification.
You are identifying yourself before the world and before your church family, I believe in Jesus. It's a public declaration, which is why it takes humility because a lot of people are like, I don't think I look good when my hair's wet. And I mean, that sounds dumb, that's it's embarrassing, but it is a way to identify.
And instead of Jesus was identifying who he was, we are identifying in who Jesus is and what he did for us. And so when you go into the water and come back out, that is the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ you're identifying with. But we are also identifying with this fact, who comes out of the water
is now the new me. That is my identity. It's not I'm all these things that I thought of as my identity for, you know, what I have, who I'm with, where I wanna
natural personality is like, what my inclinations, what my sexuality is, what my orientations are, what my politics are. None of that. Most of us think your identity is a combination of all those things. When you do this, you are identifying the fact that this is who I am.
And the nice thing about that is it becomes an anchor for our faith. Instead of something that I'm trying to pursue God's love to love me.
We live from his love. And when I embrace that, I know that here's the cool part is in Romans seven, Paul started talking about the struggle he has. He's like, why do I do the things I don't wanna do and don't do the things I wanna do? Why do I do the to don't list and sometimes avoid the to do list? He struggled with it too, just like you and me. And he was saying, you know what? He needed to remember in chapter eight, he goes, I know how I get through this. It's because the power of the Holy Spirit, because Jesus died for me and I've been made do. What he's saying is that desire to do the other things is a shadow of who I was without Christ.
But the part of you that desires to do it, every time I sit here and say a message like, hey, we should do this step. If we're the body of Christ, like one of the things people get mad at me. I get Google reviews on this. That guy always tells people to give to the church.
Because Jesus said that's what we do as Christians. And if I have to keep saying it, it's because I have lots of Christians in this church that won't do it. And that's why we have to do extra fundraisers to build buildings.
If everyone that says this is my church would listen to God about their money, I would never have to ask about it. It's that simple. I'm not taking crazy pills. I'm doing my job.
And some of the reasons we get stuck on that is if we would just understand that love of the Lord, if we would understand what he's asking us to do, we wouldn't get stuck in those moments. We would say, I'm gonna trust. I'm gonna see what happens on the other side of that wonderful counsel that scares the snot out of me.
Would I do that? I identified that that's who I am now. I'm not So what Paul was saying is, I struggle with those fears of the old self, but the part of you that does feel, you know what? I really do wanna be a part of what God wants. I don't know how, and I'm listening to the fears, but I really want to?
You know who you really are? You know that when Jesus comes back or you die and go to him, you know what goes? That. And many of you struggle thinking you're the old self. You're the lie. You're the selfishness. That's just an anchor. If you know Jesus, who you really are is the one that wants to.
And if you look at your faith like you're the one that doesn't want to but you have to keep making you do it, it's not gonna work. You need to embrace by the power of the Holy Spirit and the love of Jesus what you did and what you declared in baptism, I'm that guy, not that guy.
And you only get to and the more you do it you know they had that old phrase, know, you get the two wolves in you, the one that wants to be good, one that wants to be bad. What do you do? Feed the good one. Don't Let who you really are grow. Let who you used to be starve.
And that's why God asked us to do some things in our lives, so we can become more confident in who He is in our lives. So the thing that you get the most upset about, the thing you're most scared about that the scripture says you should do, I guarantee that's the first thing you should choose to do.
And baptism is baby step one, in trusting Him. Have you done it? A lot of you have been baptized. I think repentance is something we do the rest of our lives. And I'm just gonna tell you right now, repentance doesn't mean stop going forward. It means turn around and go another direction.
So I think what you're gonna realize, the other thing that holds us up on this when you say, Hey, I say Jesus is Lord, but I live like He's Lord, the thing you're gonna get caught up is that you go further down, you're gonna be like, I've been a Christian a while. I'm pretty good at this don't list.
So you think you're doing well. You're like, you know, I haven't cheated on my wife. I haven't murdered anyone. I'm not a Seahawks fan. You're pretty good at doing the to don't list. But the longer you go, the Lord wants to reveal in your life, the real challenge is going the other way.
And we get hung and that's why some of us get frustrated, we give up, and then we bail in and out of church for a while, because you keep struggling with the to don't list, and one of the best ways to stop doing that direction is you need to start going the other direction. Which is what baptism is a declaration of.
The things like I said, do I use my time the way God did? He's gifted me.
When Jesus was identifying his mission, when we get baptized, when we come to Christ, we are saying the same thing. I may not know the whole mission, but I have identified that I am gonna go. Jesus said himself, count the cost of following me and pick up your cross. We have a cross to bear. That's a mission we have.
And if you sit even if you sit like, I'll sit down. I'm not gonna do this sin anymore. You're like, I'm gonna stop looking at that. I'm gonna stop doing that. I'm gonna stop and all you do is sit and don't be sent. That will sour, and eventually you're gonna start going that way again.
And baptism teaches like, this is the first step and I'm gonna be sent. I'm gonna move forward. And the other the last thing it identifies that's really cool is you know why it's cool? Because that's the first time that you as a believer, if you do it right away, you have now just encouraged
and edified the body of Christ that you're a part of. Because how cool was it for those of you to watch all those baptisms? It was amazing, You know who it affected the most?
Everyone in here that first has given to this church, has served here, they believe in the cause of Christ, and God let you see that what He used you and your time and your money for us to be able to do this, for God to do this through us. The most powerful ones is the ones of you that watch someone get baptized that you've been praying for also.
You see what it means? Is when we go forward if you don't really care about that much and you like to come to church, it's because you're not engaging in the right thing. That's the win. That's the purpose. That's the cause. And you're missing out on the you're not you're afraid
of the wonderful counsel, and you're never getting to the wonder that's on the other side of that. So if you call Jesus Lord,
where in your life do you need to start living like he's Lord?
And you could take that as turn around now before it's too late, or you can hear it for the heart that really is and what Jesus meant it to be. The bridge is out on the way you're currently going.
And now it's up to you to say, Who do I trust? Are you going to trust God? And here's the warning, the further you go into this, the harder it gets.
It gets there's a challenge in our hearts. I discovered this when I was reading my bible the other day. I've discovered that the more I surrender to God and the more time I spend with God, sometimes I get completely overwhelmed with how far away I am from actually being like him.
It's like you feel like you're going backwards because the more you say, hey, Lord, search my heart and reveal anything that's inconsistent,
and you genuinely do that, he starts to reveal stuff that you never even noticed. So why a lot of reasons why we like to stay away from getting too close to God because it kind of is scary when you realize, holy cow, we sin. Our soul is so much deeper and brighter than anything we can see.
And we can go in our hearts and our souls to such depth away from the Lord that we are not even consciously aware of it. But the closer you get to God, sometimes he starts revealing some of that.
And that can be discouraging if you have this idea that I have to prove myself to God. Or am I letting the Holy Spirit and letting the new me be controlled by the Holy Spirit and just letting that person out and ignoring the old?
But as it's revealed, it's difficult to realize where our hearts could end. Matter of fact, I got hit when I was doing a devotional this week and it pointed to this passage in Psalms 139.
And it was actually an Oswald Chambers, my utmost for his highest. I don't know if any of you guys read. That guy said some deep things. He'll take one verse, write a paragraph about it, and I'm like, wow, this is so deep. Don't even understand. Need to get to heaven and say, Jesus, what did Allswald Chambers mean by that? And Jesus is gonna be like, let's go find them and ask them because I don't know either.
And he went through this passage and it talked about the height and depth. He says, God is everywhere and you can't get away from him. Here's the problem. He's also everywhere within you.
And he knows you deeper than you know yourself. And that can be a scary place to go with him because it reveals the depth. But what it should do is drive us to his grace. Because the more you realize you're a sinner, the greater a savior you realize he is.
And that should help us trust him more. We get stuck not really trusting God because we never really will confront the darkness and the depths in our souls.
Because here's what it says. King David is writing this in Psalms. I just wanna read these six verses because it's powerful to me and it hit me this week. I cried and I prayed over it because I was struggling. And I realized I feel like David here and I think many of you are the same. Look what he says. Oh Lord,
you have examined my heart and know everything about me. She's like, wow, you know, every dark place places that I don't even realize. You know, when I sit down or stand up, you know, my thoughts, even when I'm far away.
You see me when I travel and when I rest at home, you know, everything that I do, you know, that I am gonna say even before I say it.
But yet look what he says then transistors. He goes, you go before me and you follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. He says, you know all this stuff. You know everything I ever did, everything I'm gonna do, you know everything I've ever thought. Even the thoughts I don't remember.
You know the depth of how far away I get from you. And yet, you go before me and follow me. That's a direct alliteration of how God led the Israelites in the wilderness. He led them out of slavery. They hadn't done anything to prove their love for God. They're enslaved, and he rescues
them. He then takes them, and he has this pillar of fire by night. The cloud by day is leading him, but then he takes them through the Red Sea. It parts when the enemy's coming up behind him, and it says he got between them
and stopped them. He went behind him, and then they got to cross over through the water, which, by the way, is is a a symbolism for baptism. That then they walk through the waters, and the waters close behind them.
Then they get to Mount Sinai, and then he gives them the 10 commandments. This is how my kingdom works. Here's how I want you to trust me. Which came first? Save them first. Which came next? They went through the waters. Which came last? Now listen to me. We
don't do this stuff to get God's love. We didn't understand. He says, I don't understand it. You knew everything I think and do, and you knew everything I'm still gonna do, and yet you still went before me, and you still came behind me, and you still chose to bless me.
See, you don't understand how overwhelmingly powerful that is if you're sitting around with this pride that thinks not that bad of a person. Every one of us in our hearts and our souls so desperately and wickedly in honest truth runs to places that just does not wanna listen to God.
But when you have this understanding, he's overwhelmed by it. And many of us, I said that morning, I said the same thing he said. Verse six, such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand. And maybe you
are feeling like me. What David is saying there and what I prayed out loud is he's saying, and I said it, man, if I'm honest, I do not get the grace of God.
It is so the love of God, the New Testament describes as we wish we could truly understand the heights, the widths, and the depth of God's love.
If you have a hard time just trusting him and the steps he's taking you, you are having a hard time seeing just how far away you really are from him. And what you're really having a hard time seeing is understanding how incredibly awesome is his love for you and his grace for you.
And that was should motivate us. In other words, what David said and I said to you is, God, when it comes to your grace, you let me preach, you let me you do all these things even though I'm a knucklehead. And I said this, I don't get it. I don't get it, but I'm glad I get it. Understand?
I don't get it, but, man, I sure am thankful that you give it to me. And I probably will never understand just how amazing your grace is. But you need to understand, and then we need to respond. Baptism is step one. But God always asks us, hey, if you see my love and you call me Lord, then follow me as Lord.
Follow me. Baptism does not save you. But if you say I believe in Jesus and you refuse to get baptized, there is something incredibly wrong with you under with your understanding of what it means to know the Lord.
Or you're letting fear or pride stop you from just trusting God. And maybe you've been baptized. What's the current thing that fear or pride is stopping you from trusting God? Let's pray.
I just wanna pray, and I wanna pray some of you never even have accepted the love of Christ. And I hope you realize that what you saw in baptism when he says just, hey, I'm gonna turn from myself. I'm gonna turn to him. So I just wanna close in prayer and give you a chance to put your faith in Jesus right now. So if you're that person, just pray with me. Just pray something like this. Jesus, I don't get it,
but I'm glad you gave it. And right now, in the best way I know how, I turn for myself and I turn to you. I put my faith in what you did, that you came and you died on the cross and you resurrected. Thank you for forgiving me. Thank you for loving me in ways I don't even understand.
Now help me to go from this moment and do the next right thing you've asked me to do in accepting this love. Help me to understand what it means to live through this love. I pray this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
