Well, what's up Rock Point? Hey, man. Did anybody come excited about Jesus this morning? Let's
go. Hey, y'all. My name is Brent. I'm one of your other pastors. I get to come here a couple times a year. So grateful, so thankful. Before I say anything, y'all, today is a very special day. I gotta pause and give a shout out to all the mamas in the room. Happy Mother's Day, mama. We love you. You're so amazing.
Thanks for putting up with us. Alright. So y'all, I get to talk about one of my favorite things today as we continue on in our series on Kings. I get to talk about worship.
Here's what I need you to know. In just a moment, we're gonna look at the life of both David and Saul and do a bit of a comparison and a bit of a contrast, but here's what I need you to know, and I never say this, never say this before I speak. So I'm convicted to say this and here's what I need you to know.
I need you to know that if you lean in today and not just be a hearer of this word, but actually become a doer of this word, this message will change your life for the rest of your life.
That's how you know I'm crazy because I will never say something like that to put all that pressure on me. Alright? So because I have all this pressure on me now, do me a favor. Would you join me in a word of prayer because I can't do it without the help of the holy spirit.
Holy spirit, thank you so much for being our advocate, for being our helper. Thank you for being the one who walks on the inside, walks with us, and dwells on the inside of us.
And in this moment, holy spirit, I decrease and ask that you would increase hiding behind the cross. Let me say only what it is that you want me to say and nothing more than that.
God, because I stand just as a mere man, would you do only what you can do? Would you do open heart surgery on the hearts of every single person in this room starting with the man that's speaking?
Father, I pray that you would get all the glory, all the honor, and all the praise. Give me preaching power that only comes from you. And it's in Jesus' name we pray and give thanks. And everybody said, Amen.
Alright. So if you got your Bibles, want you to turn with me to Romans chapter 12 verse number one. I wanna give you a definition
for what worship actually is. But before I give you this definition, let me let you know right now that I absolutely love worship. And one of the things that I'm coming to understand is that there are so many people in the body of Christ who are unfortunately mistaken to think that worship
is just the thirty minute set before the preacher comes out to preach. News flash, that's a component of worship, that's a part of worship, but that's not worship. And please hear my heart, y'all I absolutely
love it when we as the church come together and we sing as loud as we possibly can. And many of us, myself included, stand in the pews and we make a joyful noise because if they muted everybody else and we just heard you were me, it would sound really bad. That's okay. I absolutely
love that thirty minute moment, but can I tell you that that is not the totality of worship? And here's why I know that that is not the totality of worship. One of the things that I have discovered that there are far too many of us who come to church and we enjoy the thirty minute worship set,
but Monday through Saturday our lives do not reflect the song or the God that we worship. And when you and I come to church on what Sunday mornings or Saturday evenings, whatever time you like to come,
if your worship is just restricted to the thirty minute worship set and your life doesn't reflect the songs that you're actually singing, y'all, you're not giving God worship, you're giving God lip service. So then the question becomes, Pastor Brent, what is actually worship?
Look at what Paul writes in Romans twelve:one, he says this, And so dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you. Y'all, Paul is begging, please, baby, please. He says, I plead with you to give. Everybody shout, give. Give. Oh, I like that baby girl. Give
your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice, the kind he will find acceptable, and watch this, this is truly the way to worship him. Paul writes that if you are truly going to worship God, you've gotta offer your life as a living sacrifice. Well, what does that mean?
That means I give God all of me. That means I give God all of who I am, and I give God all of what he wants. So now the question becomes, what does that actually look like?
I was having a conversation with another pastor friend of mine, he's a senior pastor here in the valley and he was sharing with me the heart of his church and here's one of the things that he said to me about his church, y'all. He said, Brandon, our church, we tell our elders, we tell our staff, we tell our leaders,
we want God to get whatever God wants. Say it again. Thank you for my amen. God bless you. He said, we want God to get whatever God wants. Y'all, that's actually worship. It's when you and I make the decision to say, God, I'm going to give you whatever you want. Here's the big idea. Worship is not an activity. Worship is a lifestyle.
Well, what does the lifestyle of worship look like? It looks like you and I making a commitment to say, God, I am going to obey you no matter what you ask. Worship is obedience. And it's an obedience that says, God, I am willing to give you whatever you want. Y'all, I wish
somebody would have had this conversation with King Saul.
If you have your Bibles, I want you to turn with me to First Samuel chapter 15 just to set up the narrative really quickly. Saul is the very first king in all of Israel. Y'all, this man is blessed. And in first Samuel chapter 15, God's going to ask Saul to do something for him. And it is God's expectation
that Saul will give God whatever God wants. So he makes this request, but here's the deal, Saul decides to give God some of what God wants because greed got in the way.
And in this narrative that we're getting ready to read, I want you to see how God who is Alpha and Omega beginning and the end, the first and the last, all sovereign, all supreme. I want you to see how that God, the one that you and I serve, feels about Saul and his actions.
Check this out. First Samuel chapter 15 beginning at verse number one, here's what it says. One day Samuel said to Saul, it was the Lord Saul who told me to anoint you as king of his people Israel. Now listen to this message from the Lord. This is what the Lord of heaven's armies has declared.
I have decided to settle accounts with the nation of Amalek for opposing Israel when they came from Egypt. Now go and completely destroy the entire Amalekite nation. Men, women, children, babies, cattle, sheep, goats, camels, and donkeys. Real quick, y'all. Let me just test. Did God tell Saul to just destroy
some of the Amalekite nation? No. Alright. This side is really quiet, so we're gonna go over here. They might still be waking up. Did God tell Saul to just destroy some of the Amalekite nation? No. That y'all got it. Alright. Let me let me try the balcony real quick. Did he tell God to destroy everything? Yes.
Thank you, balcony. That was a slow delay. Maybe the sound took a little time to get to the front, but thank you. Y'all, he said destroy everything. And if I'm truly a worshiper, I am going to give God whatever God wants. Look at what happens. Text goes on to say this. Verse
200,000
soldiers from Israel and 10,000 men from Judah. Then Saul and his army went to a town of the Amale sorry, Amalekites and lay in wait in the valley. Saul sent this warning to the Kenites, Move away from here for the the Amalekites live or you will die with them. For you showed kindness to all the people of Israel when they came up from Egypt. So the Kenites packed up and left. Watch verse seven. Then Saul
slaughtered the Amalekites from Havilah all the way to shore East of Egypt. He captured Agag, the Amalekite king, but completely destroyed everyone else. Saul and his men spared Agag's life and kept the best of the sheep and the goats and the cattle and the fat calves and the lambs, everything, in fact, that appealed to them.
They destroyed only what was worthless or of poor quality. Saul, if you're really a worshiper, here's what I need you to do. Give me whatever I want.
Hey. Man, that's some nice livestock. I know he told me to destroy, but hold on. I see a 20 right here. God
of the universe is looking down. He sees what Saul is doing.
Look at what God has to say about Saul. Verse 10, then the Lord said to Samuel, I am sorry that I ever made Saul king for he has not been loyal to me and has refused to obey my command. I need you to let this sink in. The worship is is you and I making the decision to give God whatever God wants.
That means you and I have no right to only give God some of what he wants. And here's what's so crazy about this conversation.
God, who has been kind to Saul, who has favored Saul, who has blessed Saul's socks off, who has given him more than probably any other person on earth at this time, Saul decides to have this greedy heart and only give back to God some of what God actually wants.
And as a result, if you grew up in church in the nineties, the King James version because that's what everybody believed had full authority at the time, For this particular passage, the text actually says, and the Lord repented. I need you to let this settle in.
When you and I only give God, some of us, and you and I only partially obey God, we cause God to grieve.
Text says, I'm sorry that I ever chose you because Saul had one job, obey. Here's a different way to say it. Saul, I've made you king. Here's what I need you to do, steward it well. Could it be that for some of us in this room,
we know that God has blessed our socks off, that God has done exceedingly, abundantly above all that we could ask, think, or even imagine, and when we messed up, he was still kind to us, gave us grace, gave us his mercy, but in return, we've only given God some of what he wants. This is the problem with many Christians.
We're okay with accepting Jesus as savior, but we have a hard time accepting Jesus as Lord. And now there's a big difference between Jesus as savior and Jesus as Lord. All of us like a hero. That's why the Avengers makes hundreds of millions of dollars every year.
It's okay to accept Jesus as savior. Oh, he died for my sins. Thank you, Jesus. You're a good, good valiant, it's who you are. Right? But watch this. I know I'm your savior. Will you make me Lord? Well, what I gotta do, you make you Lord. Pick up your cross and follow me. Oh, you're an okay father.
Truth of the matter is, is there are too many of us who have gotten comfortable with Jesus being savior but we have not been willing to make him Lord. And I came to Rock Point today to tell you that some of you need to stop playing with God. I'm not trying to be mean because the word is full of God's grace. The word is full of God's mercy. I love God's grace. I love God's mercy. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for God's grace and God's mercy. And in light of God's grace and mercy, now I've had to make a decision to say, you know what? Lord, because of your grace and mercy, I am making you the Lord of my life and not just the savior of my life.
Because worship is not an activity. Worship is a lifestyle, and it's a lifestyle where you and I say, God, I am willing to give you whatever you want. Watch this. I want you to see how the rest of this conversation with Saul goes. We're gonna pick up
verse number 12. Early the next morning, Samuel went to find Saul. Someone told him, oh, oh, oh, pastor Sam, Saul went to the town of Carmel to set up a monument to himself, then he went on to Gilgal. And I I could only imagine y'all what Samuel was thinking. No. This fool did not just go and set up a whole mountain to himself, a monument, a statue like he is Caesar Augustus when he just completely and totally disobeyed God. Watch what the rest of the text goes on to say. When Samuel finally found him,
Saul greeted him cheerily. Pastor Sam, may the Lord bless you, he said. I have carried out all the Lord's command.
Samuel says, then what is all this bleeding of sheep and goats and the loin of cattle I hear? It's true that the army spared the best of the sheep, the goats, the cattle, Solomon, but but they're gonna sacrifice and said the Lord your God. We have destroyed everything else. And Samuel said to Saul, boy, stop. Listen
to what the Lord told me last night. What did he say? Samuel told him, although you may think little of yourself, are you not the leader of the tribes of Israel?
The Lord has anointed you king of Israel, then the Lord sent you on a mission and told you, go and completely destroy the sinners, the Amalekites, until they are all dead. Why haven't you obeyed the Lord? Why
did you rush for the plunder and do what was evil in the Lord's sight? But I did obey the Lord, Solomon says. I carried out the mission he gave me. I brought back king Agag, but I destroyed everyone else. Then my troops brought in the best of the sheep, the goats, the cattle, and pleasure, the sacrifice of the Lord your God and Gilgal. But Samuel replied, Son,
listen closely. What is more pleasing to the Lord, your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Hear me well. Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams. Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols.
So because you have rejected the command of the Lord, He has rejected you as king.
Saul gets the worst news in his mind that we'd ever wanna receive. I just had this amazing job, this amazing opportunity, steward it well. You know what? Let me let me at least tell God sorry. Watch this. Here's what here's what he says. 24, then Saul admitted to Samuel, yes, I have sinned.
I have disobeyed your instructions and the Lord's command. For I was afraid of the people and did what they demanded, but now please forgive my sin and come back with me so that I may worship the Lord. Now pay attention to this. In this particular text, when Saul apologizes, his actions were correct,
but the posture of his heart was wrong. Let me tell you why the posture of his heart was wrong. Saul did the right thing by saying sorry. But the problem was is the only reason why Saul was sorry was because he got caught.
The other day, was with my son, we were in the kitchen, and he knows he's not supposed to go on the cupboard to go get his little Rice Krispies Treats and Fruit Roll Up and stuff, so he goes in the kitchen, he gets his Rice Krispie Treats, his Fruit Roll Up. I say, Elvie, what are you doing? I said, nothing. Clearly ain't nothing. There's something behind your back. What are you doing?
I was getting a snack. I'm so sorry. I said, boy, don't tell me sorry because you ain't sorry you got a snack. You're sorry you got caught. But that's how a lot of us live our lives. We live our lives oh, thank you, Holy Spirit. We live our lives giving God some of us and then we're only sorry when we get caught.
God is not interested in me or you, only giving him some of us. He wants you to give us him to give us all of us. And I can prove to you why I know that the posture of Saul's heart to ask for forgiveness was only because he got caught. Look at the rest of the text.
Rest of the text goes on to say this, beginning at verse number 26. But Samuel replied, I will not go back with you since you have rejected the Lord's command. He has rejected you as king of Israel. As Samuel turned to go, Saul tried to hold him back and toward the hem of his robe. And Samuel said to him,
the Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today and has given it to someone else, one who is better than you. And he who is the glory of Israel will not lie nor will he change his mind for he is not human that he should change his mind. Verse 30. Then Saul pleaded again,
I know I've I've sinned, but but please at least honor me before the elders of my people and before Israel by coming back with me so that I may worship the Lord your God. So Samuel finally agreed and went back with him. Saul worshiped the Lord. Here's how I know worship for Saul was just simply an activity.
He was more concerned with how he looked than how God felt. He says, Samuel, will you come back with me in front of the elders, in front of my people so that they can see me worship. But not one time has Samuel even considered the fact that the God who sits on the throne, who showed his grace and mercy, has feelings about him
that he ends up repenting that he chose him.
Here's a hard truth. God has feelings, and here's the question that I want you to ask. How does God feel about your worship?
I'm not talking about the thirty minute set. I'm talking about your obedience.
Have you allowed the opinions of people and the thoughts of men to have more value in your life than the heart of your creator, the one who can number the hairs on the top of your head, the one who knew you when you were formed in your mother's womb, the one who sits outside of time and into eternity,
the one who sent his one and only begotten son, Jesus, to die on the cross for your sins so that he could be your savior, but yet you can't make him your Lord? Worship is when you give God whatever God wants because it's not an activity, it's a lifestyle. Now, just for a few more moments,
let me mess with your head a little bit, and here's what I mean by that. If I haven't already. And it's not me, y'all. It's the holy spirit. So take it out of here.
There's this other king named David. And if we're being real, y'all, here's what I know about David.
Heis a hotmess.com.
And for those of you who are familiar with David's story, I think many of us would agree that David's actions are way worse than Saul's actions. David, for those of you who may be new to Christianity, let me bring you up to speed real quick. David is the only man in the bible who gets this title as a man after God's own heart.
Y'all, he wrote more hits than the Beatles, Michael Jackson, Beyonce can buy. It's all found in the book of Psalms. And here's what I don't understand. How do you go from being a man after God's own heart to, watch this, a liar, a manipulator, a backstabbing friend, an adulterer and a murderer?
For those of you like, dang, what what did he do? How did he get there? Here's what happened. One day, David should have been out in the field on the battlegrounds with his men. But instead of doing what he was supposed to do as a leader,
he got cocky, got arrogant, and instead stayed behind, and he was chilling in the palace. Just as a small nugget, don't ever be somewhere where God hasn't called you to be. You'll find yourself in a whole heap of trouble. So David's home in the palace, he
walks up to his window. It's a beautiful day, and he he looks outside and he sees this woman. This woman is bathing on a rooftop. David looks and says, oh, Lord, have mercy.
Oh, is she fine? And then here's what he should have did. The moment he saw this woman and just marveled at what the Lord created, he should have said, well, And walked away. But instead, he's backed out the window. He sends one of his servants, go go go inquire who that woman is. Servant comes back and says, oh, king,
That's Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah. So we got two strikes. Strike number one, David is well aware that this is another man's wife.
Strike number two, David is well aware that this is not only another man's wife, but this is a wife of one of his friends because Uriah was in the military with David. They fought together side by side. And David decides, knowing all of that, I'm a sleep with her anyways, and messes around, and Bathsheba gets pregnant.
And now David is trying to clean up his sin. So what does David do? David says, alright, when Uriah comes back, I'm a try to make sure that Uriah sleeps with Bathsheba so I don't have to go on the Maury Povich show and be like, you are the father.
So he tries to get Uriah to sleep with his wife and fails, and then David does something horrible. He says, let's put Uriah on the front line. And he has Uriah murdered in cold blood.
Man after God's own heart, amazing songwriter, amazing worshiper,
to a liar, manipulator, backstabbing friend, adulterer, murderer. How? Because he failed to guard his heart. Proverbs four twenty three, above all else, guard your heart for it will determine the course of your life. Now I think that most of us would agree that what David did in our human minds is way worse than what Saul did.
But we're getting ready to read second Samuel chapter 12. God is about to send one of his best preachers and prophets. It's a man by the name of Nathan. And Nathan is about to rebuke David, but I want you to see in this text the response of God and how in some ways it seems to be a little more gracious when David repents versus
when Saul repents. Second Samuel chapter 12,
beginning at verse number one. Here's what it says. So the Lord sent Nathan the prophet to tell David this story. David, there were two men in a certain town. Here's what you need to know, David. One was rich and one was poor. David, the rich man, man, he owned a great many sheep and cattle, hundreds and hundreds.
David, the poor man, the poor man owned nothing but one little lamb he had bought. David, here's what you need to know. He raised that little lamb and it grew up with his children. David had ate from the man's own plate and drank from his cup. David, he cuddled it in his arms like a baby daughter.
And here's what happened, David. One day, a guest arrived at the home of the rich man. But instead of killing an animal from his own flock or herd because he had hundreds and hundreds, David, he took the poor man's lamb and killed it and prepared it for his guests. Watch what David says in verse five. David was furious.
As surely as the Lord lives, he vowed, any man who would do such a thing deserves to die. He must repay four lambs to the poor man to that. Do so
And we're
The Lord, the God of Israel says, I anointed you king of Israel and saved you from the power of Psalm. I gave you your master's house and his wives and the kingdoms of Israel and Judah. And if that had not been enough, David, I would have given you much, much more.
Why then have you despised the word of the Lord and done this horrible deed? For you have murdered Uriah the Hittite with the sword of the Ammonites and stole his wife. From this time on, your family will live by the sword because you have despised me by taking Uriah's wife to be your own. This is what the Lord says.
Because of what you have done, I will cause your own household to rebel against you. I will give your wives to another man before your very eyes, and he will go to bed with them in public view. You did it secretly, but I will make this happen to you openly in the sight of all Israel. Let me tell you what ends up happening.
David has a daughter named Tamar and a son named Amnon. Amnon was a wicked man. As a matter of fact, he was so wicked that he raped his own biological sister Tamar, sleeps with her, then throws her away like a piece of trash.
Absalom, the other son, finds out what his brother did. Absalom then goes and kills Amnon. And then because Absalon is so upset with his father for being in wickedness and darkness and not doing anything about what Amnon had did to his own sister, Absalon then takes his father's wives and concubines,
sleeps with them on the palace of all of Israel to be able to see, and then does a hostile takeover and ends up replacing his father as king, and David ends up in the wilderness on the run. And the reason why I'm rolling through that narrative with you because some of you need to realize that sin
has consequences.
God does not take sin lightly.
And can I be real with you? If you've only been giving God some of you and not all of you, you're in sin.
Sin is not the top 10 that you find in Exodus. That's just the start. Sin is whenever God tells you to do something and you don't do it. That's sin.
That's missing the mark. Now let me sprinkle the grace and the mercy in here because I feel like I'm one of those old school preachers who's preaching hellfire to bring something right now.
Here's the good news. All of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. So if I am going to live a life of worship and that is a life where I give God whatever he wants, the truth of the matter is at some point in my walk, I'm gonna miss the mark. So what do I do? I repent. Look at God's response to David
when David repents. Verse 13, here's what it says. Then David confessed to Nathan, I have sinned against the Lord. And Nathan replied, Yes, but the Lord has forgiven you, and you won't die for this sin. Is it just me? Or does it seem like when David repented, God's tone was way kinder with David than it was with Saul? And
here's why I believe why God's tone with David was much softer and much more accepting than it was with Saul. Saul only repented because he got caught. David repented because he was concerned about how God felt. Here's how I know David was concerned about how God felt. When Nathan comes in and preaches this amazing
sermon with this amazing illustration, It's like the scales were removed from David's eyes when Nathan told him, you are that man. David recognized, hold up, in one season of my life, I was a man after God's own heart, but in the next season of my life, I was a man after my own wants. Here's the deal,
God is not looking for men and women after their own wants. God is looking for men and women who are looking to please him.
David still had to deal with the consequences, but David was concerned with how God felt. And just in case you don't realize this, God is not some supreme being who has no feelings. God absolutely has feelings.
Here's how I know he has feelings, not just based on what he says to Saul, but think about what he says when Jesus gets baptized. There was suddenly a voice from heaven that says, this is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased. Here's my question. Would you be willing to live a life that says, this is my beloved son,
this is my beloved daughter in whom I am well pleased. Here's how I know David realized that he can't just do the activity of worship.
He's gotta have a lifestyle of worship. I'm a read one more passage of scripture for you. It's found in Psalms 51. I'm a read the entire thing because I want you to hear these words. And then after I read this passage of scripture, I think we're gonna do something that's number one, it's super holy.
But number two, I think it's also super necessary. Many scholars believe that David writes these words in Psalms 51 after he messes up, and he's trying to get his life back right with God. And hear the words that David writes in Psalms 51. He says, have mercy on me, oh God, because of your unfailing love,
because of your great compassion blot out the stain of my sins. I
to
I will have done be what is evil in your sight. You will be proved right in what you say and your judgment against me is just. For I was born a sinner. Yes, from the moment my mother conceived me. But you desire honesty from the womb, teaching me wisdom even there. Purify me from my sins and I will be clean. Wash me
and I will be whiter than snow. Oh, give me back my joy again. You have broken me, now let me rejoice. Don't keep looking at my sins, remove the stain of my guilt. Create in me a clean heart, o God, and renew a loyal spirit within me. God, do not banish me from your presence, and and please don't take your holy spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation and make me willing to obey. Then I will teach your ways to rebels, and they will return to you. Forgive me for shedding blood, o God, who saves. Then I will joyfully sing of your forgiveness. Unseal my lips, o Lord, that my mouth may praise you. God, you you do not desire a sacrifice
or I would offer one. You do not want a burnt offering. The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and a repentant heart, o God.
Look with favor on Zion and help her rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Then you will be pleased with sacrifices offered in the right spirit, with burnt offerings and the whole burnt offerings. Then bulls will again be sacrificed on your altar. At the point, here's what you need to know. God is not concerned or interested
in the activity of worship.
He desires for me and you to live the lifestyle of worship. Worship is obedience. And on a daily basis, here's what it looks like to live out a lifestyle of worship. It's when you and I make the decision to say, God, I am going to give you whatever you want.
Let me tell you how this message really came about. I know it was orchestrated by the Holy Spirit. Several months ago, that same pastor who I had a conversation with who told me that statement, God, we want God to give. We wanna give God whatever God wants. I shared it with my wife.
And as I was sharing it with my wife, I was processing what it is that God is gonna do in my life, what is God gonna call me to do. And here's the thing.
God has given me a gift. It's a gift of communication. And here's why I recognize that it's a gift because I couldn't speak this good even if I practiced. K? Just like they can't sing as good as they do. It's a gift. And when God gives you a gift, it's your responsibility to simply steward the gift. And here's what happens.
When you have a gift, people put expectations on you that you're supposed to do certain things. So for years, I've always heard, oh, you're such a good communicator. But when you gonna get your own church? And in this conversation with my wife, my wife says to me, honey, what if God doesn't call you to be a senior pastor?
Let me tell you why it rocked my world. Because number one in my mind, that's the godly thing to do. And in my mind, that's the right thing to do. Number one in my mind, that's like the thing that I'm aiming for. But here's what I recognize in this conversation about giving God whatever God wants.
The goal y'all is not to pursue titles. The goal is not to pursue things. The goal is not to pursue positions. I would even dare say the goal isn't even necessarily to pursue purpose because I thought being the senior pastor was purpose. You know what the goal actually is? The goal is to pursue obedience. Watch this.
If every single day in your life, you make the decision to say, God, I'm gonna pursue obedience, you know what happens? Worst case scenario, you will stumble into purpose. Worst case scenario, pursue obedience.
And here's the thing, I'm okay now. If God doesn't call me to be a senior pastor, it doesn't matter. Because when I stand before Jesus on the day of my death, and I'm in heaven and the angels are singing holy, holy, holy, all I wanna be able to say is is, God, I did exactly what you asked me to do. And this is what God will say to me, well done, thy good and faithful servant.
That's it. So
here's what we're getting ready to do. I need you to know that this is not weird. This is actually freeing. Here's what's getting ready to happen. Band's getting ready to sing a song. I'll absolutely love this song. And if you know that this message was specifically for you as they sing, here's what I want you to do. I
want you to come to the altar. It's not weird. It's normal. Down here is gonna be holy ground. Remember I told you,
if you catch this message, it will change your life for the rest of your life. God is ready to raise up men and women in the earth who have a heart that says, God, I wanna make you my Lord, and I wanna give you whatever you want. And there's some of us here who, number one, we need to come down because we need to repent.
Not because we've been caught, but because we're grieved by our actions. And we know that the holy spirit is grieved too. And some of us need to come down because we've only been giving God. Some of us, God wants us to give him all of us. And just so you don't feel alone, I'm a be the first person to come down. K?
You won't be by yourself. So here's what's gonna happen. Bands, guns I'm gonna pray. Bands, guns, then we're gonna worship. Let's pray. Hey, holy spirit, thank you so much for the opportunity to share this word. This is my prayer. Would you begin to move in this room like you've never moved before? Would you allow us to have an experience with you? Come meet us face to face, oh God. We thank you in Jesus' name, amen.
So I didn't do this at any of the other services.
I don't wanna come to church, preach a good message, knowing that there are unbelievers in the room, and they don't give their lives to Jesus. So here's what's about to happen. If you're here today and you don't know Jesus as your savior nor your lord, I want you to repeat this prayer after me.
And then if you prayed that prayer for the first time, you're just gonna raise your hand and the church is gonna celebrate. Y'all, we gotta bust the gates of heaven open and get as many people the gift of salvation as possible. Alright? So real quickly, everybody, let's just pray. Repeat after me. Lord Jesus,
thank you that you died for my sins, that you rose from the grave, and that I have been forgiven. I confess with my mouth and believe in my heart that Jesus is
Lord. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Transform me so that I may live a life of worship. In Jesus' name. Amen. Alright. Real quick. If you prayed that prayer for the very first time, do me a favor. Just slip your hand in the air. Let's go.
So
I think the coolest thing is that you just got reborn again on Mother's Day. So so so if you prayed that prayer because we wanna make sure we get in contact with you. We don't want you to leave here as a stranger. If you prayed that prayer,
they're gonna be mad at me. We didn't plan for this. I want you to go to room over there with the exercise. If you prayed that prayer for the first time, go to that room over there at the exercise. With that being said, Rock Point, give God whatever he wants. Love y'all. See you next time.
Thanks for joining us online this weekend. Let us know if we could help you anyway. Make sure to follow us on social media and connect with us on the We Are Rock Point app for prayer and everything happening here at Rock Point.
