Sermon Content License Grant
These are Rewind's current terms, provided in good faith. They are general terms, not legal advice to you, and may be updated — material changes will require re-acceptance. Version content-license.v1.
This Content License Grant (“License”) is between the church that connects its sermons to Rewind (the “Church”) and Rewind (“we,” “us”). It is accepted by a Church administrator when the Church is set up, and it governs how we may use the Church's sermon content. It does not transfer any ownership.
Ownership stays with the Church
The Church (and its speakers, as applicable) retains all right, title, and interest in its sermons — the audio, video, transcripts, and any other materials it connects to Rewind (the “Content”). Nothing here assigns or transfers copyright. We claim no ownership of the Content.
The license you grant us
So that Rewind can operate the product for the Church, the Church grants us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, revocable license to do the following with the Church's Content, solely to provide and improve the service for that Church:
- Transcribe the Content — obtain or generate a text transcript of each sermon (from captions or by transcribing the Church's audio), and store it.
- Generate derivative materials from the Content using automated and AI systems — including overviews, devotionals, group guides, homiletic breakdowns, topic and scripture labels, search embeddings, and answers to questions grounded in the transcript.
- Reproduce and redistribute excerpts of the Content — create and share short clips and quoted passages (with attribution to the Church) through the sharing features the Church chooses to enable, including publicly shareable links when the Church has made its archive public.
This license extends to our subprocessors only as needed to perform these functions (for example, sending audio to a transcription provider), and to no other purpose. We describe those providers in the Data Processing Addendum.
What we will not do
We will not sell the Church's Content, license it to unrelated third parties, or use it to train our own models. Where a subprocessor offers a setting to keep your Content from being used to train its models, we choose it. We will not present AI-generated derivatives as the official statement of the Church or its speakers; generated material is labeled as AI-assisted.
The Church's assurances
The Church represents that it holds (or has permission to grant) the rights needed to connect its Content to Rewind and to allow the uses above, including any rights held by guest speakers, music, or third-party media appearing in a sermon. The Church is responsible for the Content it connects.
Term, revocation, and deletion
This License lasts while the Church uses Rewind. The Church may revoke it by deleting its account/tenant; on deletion we stop the licensed uses and remove the Church's Content and derivatives from active systems (subject to routine backups that age out, and to records we must keep by law). Revocation does not affect copies of excerpts the Church itself publicly shared before revocation.
No warranty on generated material
AI-generated derivatives can be wrong or incomplete. They are provided “as-is” to support study and preparation, not as an authoritative account of what was preached.
