Recent updates and improvements to Rewind — newest first.
When a message’s audio is playing, the player at the bottom of the screen now has its own speed control. On that message’s page it stays the one player bar, and stopping it keeps your place.
When a point in the message reader opens with your church’s own notes, they now sit under a small “Church notes” label, so you can see where your church’s words end and the summary begins. A passage in those notes opens right over the page, in the reader and on the message page.
The message reader now has the same Notes button as the devotional, so you can write a note or look back at your notes on this message without leaving the page you’re reading. A note you write while on a point stays with that point. Both readers’ titles look and work the same way.
On iPhone, date fields now match the size of the fields around them and stay inside their panel. On sermon cards, your church’s own Big Idea shows on its own; a Rewind AI summary is still labelled, and the sermon page still notes when your church edited it.
Message, transcript, devotional and passage readers have a visible X to close. Close follows the reader’s return link; transcript Back keeps your place in the message.
Plan save errors stay in the open form, and feedback that cannot load offers a retry. An interrupted Practice upload keeps its recording for retry on the same run. Coverage follows the book and year you choose, and Connections appears when your role has an available connection.
Your Notes search comes back with you when you return from a sermon. Ask source titles keep loading as you continue the conversation, and account-deletion messages explain any steps needed first.
Back from a search result returns to the search and churches you chose, and Following cards return to Following. Search results are easier to read on narrow screens. Topics with more messages link to their full filtered archive, and a failed archive load waits for you to try again.
Church admins have more room for backfill titles and search queries on small screens. Speaker corrections and invitations show when a change is still saving, and Studio spend reports distinguish unavailable data from a period with no generations.
When you move through a dropdown with the keyboard, the focused option stays in view. Delete confirmations and status labels are easier to read with church themes.
On a phone, a finished message has an Overview link and a Sections menu at the top. Sections opens the other parts of the message, such as Devotional, Groups and Scripture, from wherever you are. When you are reading the transcript, Close transcript is in that menu too.
In the mobile Reader, supporting notes and reflection questions stay with their headings and related content. Your saved place and existing Reader links still open the content they refer to.
Your church's full message notes keep their supporting text, Scripture references and reflection questions in their original order. You can also open the original notes when your church provides a link.
In landscape, the message preview brings its Big Idea ahead of the speaker details. Audio retry messages stay with the controls you are using.
A passage panel can finish closing while your message keeps playing.
If Planning Center asks you to link an existing Rewind account, signing in with Google or email takes you straight to the Planning Center section in Settings. You still choose Link account yourself, and can return to the message you started from.
Many buttons, links and checkboxes that used to shrink when you chose the Small font size in Settings now keep a full-size tap area. With a larger font size they still grow with it.
In the Reader, Read, Listen and Watch share one compact control beside Previous and Next. The selected control becomes pause or replay while a message plays, and the reading progress stays above the message.
In the Reader, the video stays visible while you scroll the message text. The player adjusts to your screen so there is still room to read underneath.
Studio settings now keep explanations at a comfortable reading width, with clearer headings and labels. Connections separates AI tools, Planning Center message notes and recording sources; Automatic audio puts its switch, matching rules and limits in their own sections.
If you can publish sermons for a church, you now get a separate email when its finished recording is ready for review, even if you were already emailed about the notes. A device with browser notifications enabled also gets a readiness alert that opens the sermon.
The Devotional page now shows a Choose devotional button beside your reading controls. On a larger screen, your usual site navigation stays visible and the page scrolls normally, so you can move between devotionals and the rest of Rewind.
Read keeps a small navigation and playback row while you read. The outlined media button reveals the available Watch, Read and Listen choices; returning to the text or turning a page tucks those choices away again. The message preview brings the title and Big Idea beside the artwork in landscape, and message cards lead with the church’s Big Idea when one is available. Sheets open and close together more smoothly, with the same keyboard and focus controls.
The progress bar at the top of Read, the progress rings on your devotionals and the small round icons on your home feed and My page still use your church’s color, now adjusted where needed so they stand out clearly from the page in light and dark mode. Labels on a tinted background, like the ones on your Following and My pages, are adjusted the same way so they’re easier to read.
The shapes you can tap in Read and in Together now appear on a sermon’s own page, in your notes, and on Search. Every moment you can play on a sermon page reads “Hear it in the message” with its time, and each passage is an outlined pill that opens it right there. The ⋯ and Share buttons, and a note’s Edit and Delete, now look like buttons instead of small grey text. On Search, the year and “Search in” choices show a check on the one you picked, and shortcuts like Browse speakers are underlined links. Ask about this, and your saved conversations, now show the Ask Rewind icon.
In a Together gathering, if you are typing a prayer request or praise when the leader moves on, you now stay where you are with your words in the field, so you can finish and add it. A bar tells you where the group is, and one tap takes you there. When a point’s heading is the speaker’s own words, the gathering now shows it once, with the time it was said beside the passage, as Read does. A gathering on a message with no points shows its passages the same way on every step.
In Read, in Together and on the Devotional page, everything you can tap now has a clear shape, and it looks the same in each place. Your group’s prayer list uses the same buttons, so Copy, Edit and Mark answered sit beside React instead of looking like fine print. An outlined pill opens a passage or plays a moment, and every moment you can play now reads “Hear it in the message” with its time, including the one in Together that used to say “Hear this moment.” A row with an arrow takes you to another page, and underlined words are links. Labels you can’t tap, like Praise and Request and the names of who’s here, no longer look like buttons.
The Ask Rewind buttons now show the Rewind logo itself with a small speech-bubble tail, instead of a smaller mark inside an outline bubble, so the icon is larger and easier to see. It stays Rewind red on every church's pages; on a button filled with your church's color, it matches the button's text.
Reading a message and gathering with your group now share one set of controls in a single bar at the bottom: Back on the left and the main button in the middle, with one more button on the right while you listen or watch, or when you lead a gathering. Choose Listen or Watch to play a point, and the right-hand button pauses it. At the top, the title or your group's name wraps instead of being cut off, and a Together gathering gets the same text size button as Read. Pages now slide when you turn them. In Together, tap the progress bar to see every step, and leaders will find Live and End gathering behind the dot on the right.
Your group's Praises & prayer list now opens on This week, with every earlier praise and prayer one tap away under Older, where you can still read, react to and edit them. In a Together gathering, Praise & prayer and the Pray screen show only this week's, praise first, so last week's requests aren't read aloud again. An answered request stays with the requests and shows when it was answered, and Copy list copies the tab you're looking at.
The Ask Rewind buttons now share one icon, a speech bubble with the Rewind mark, and it no longer takes on your church's colors, so it stays easy to see. In a Together gathering, Notes, Ask and Leave now sit in one row of full-size buttons, and on a narrow phone the header always shows how many are here instead of cutting it off.
Where Rewind AI helped write something, you'll now see one short Rewind AI line instead of a paragraph. Tap Rewind AI to read the full note and how Rewind uses AI, or use Report a problem beside it to tell your church something looks wrong. In Together, the Big idea, Read, Reflect, Talk and Close steps carry the same line when they show Rewind AI's words, as does every shared answer, and questions from your church's message notes say so.
When the speaker said a heading word for word, Read no longer shows it again as a quote underneath. When the message has audio or video, the time shown with the heading plays that moment, and the heading's ⋯ menu can save, copy or ask about the quote. Stories and quotes from before the first point now open the message on the first page instead of waiting at the end.
In a Together gathering, each reading step is now the same page you see when you read a message one point at a time: the point, how it was developed, and any quote, story or passage that goes with it. Tapping a passage, on a reading step or beside a discussion question, opens it the way it opens in Read. The gathering now counts the message's points, and none are left out.
In a Together gathering, if the leader moves on while you are still typing a prayer request or praise, your words are kept: tap Look back and they’re still in the form, ready to add. The leader moving to the next reading or question no longer pulls you out of your notes.
In a Together gathering, the header and the Back and Next buttons now stay where they are when a swipe starts on them, and moving through a step with a keyboard or VoiceOver no longer slides the room out of view. When you lead, tapping Next or Back moves your own screen at once instead of waiting for the room to catch up.
A Together gathering now ends on the message's Application instead of counts, with a private place to write your response. It's the same response you'll find under Application on the sermon page and at the end of Read, so whatever you write in one place is there in the others.
Verse numbers in Bible passages are now small and raised, so they read as numbers, not words. A passage Rewind saved earlier may keep plain numbers until it's opened in Together. In Together, points and the Big idea now look the way they do when you read a message one point at a time, the Big idea step adds the message summary, and each passage names its translation once.
Choosing how to take in a message is now a single switch instead of separate buttons. Watch and Listen appear only when that message has video or audio to offer.
Points and quotes now use the same actions in Read and Overview. Bookmark a point, keep a quote in Notes, or save a replayable moment; quotes you saved before still show as saved.
On phones, Ask Rewind now lives in the header or beside the message it can answer, leaving more room to read. The message's bottom controls are just Read and Listen; if you're signed out, the message offers a sign-in link instead.
The message brief names the Big Idea or point headings Rewind AI wrote, without calling church-written words or a direct sermon quote AI-made. Church publishers also see who published a message when they review it on a phone.
Search now starts with the archive instead of suggested questions. After you search, Rewind can still answer that specific query when an answer would help more than a list.
In Studio, each parsed line in the church's notes can now be kept as a topic, treated as a supporting note, or left out of Rewind. The choice stays tied to the exact notes revision and refreshes the current message.
On a phone, supported messages now open in one focused view. Open Read to move through the message one point at a time, with Scripture before the message's quotes and examples. When your church publishes its own notes, their wording heads each point, and a Scripture you open lands on the verse the message cited. Listen continues from your place; choosing Read pauses and clears the player. Rewind remembers where you stopped, and devotional days move on only when you choose.
In Studio, Rewind offers a merge only when the other sermon is finished and has no transcript, study content, clips, or saved activity. Recordings and view history move to the sermon you keep.
Each day's helpfulness choice now belongs to that day's reading. If a plan changes, the revised day starts unanswered while your earlier choices remain in your account history.
Marking a day complete keeps it on screen. Once it is saved, Read Day N+1 opens the next day when you choose; every day remains available in the day list.
When you move between a devotional, summary, or group guide, the helpfulness buttons now show the response for that reading. An unanswered reading starts with neither button selected.
When a sermon uses a full-service video with message-only audio, the time shown beside each section now matches the video's clock. Tapping a time still opens the right moment.
Sermon text on a phone is now the same size it is on a bigger screen, and in dark mode it is a softer white that is easier on the eyes at night. The Big Idea sits in the page as a statement instead of inside a box, and the small “More” links are a size larger.
The bars at the top and bottom of the screen are now solid instead of see-through, so their labels stay readable whatever scrolls beneath them. A sermon’s sections appear together instead of fading in one after another, and the section chips scroll with the page rather than sitting over it.
Sermon bylines and speaker pages now show each speaker’s name on its own, without a title in front of it. Your church’s own sermon titles and notes are unchanged, and older speaker links still work.
Generated key points no longer show stray spaces inside contractions or before commas — on the sermon page, in a Together gathering, and in the questions Ask suggests. Church-written and edited text stays exactly as written.
In a Together gathering, editing a prayer or marking it answered now works for any of your group’s leaders — not only whoever started the gathering.
The tabs at the top of a sermon now sit further apart on a phone, and the one you are on is easier to pick out. Nothing moved or changed name.
If a clip takes longer to start, Rewind now keeps it visible in My Rewind while recovery continues. You can also see when a render needs another try instead of losing it after closing the sermon.
On phones, the Big Idea menu now stays clear of Ask Rewind, including with larger text and safe-area insets.
Message-review warnings now stay readable beside Ask Rewind on small screens, including when larger text is enabled.
In a Together gathering you can now write notes without leaving the room, and answer the big idea right where it is on screen. They are private — nobody else in the room sees them — and they are waiting on the sermon page afterwards.
A gathering can now be taken off air and brought back. Off air, everyone stays in the room and nobody follows along while you set up or step away — it is not the same as ending, so the place you were and who is here are both kept. You can also end a gathering from any step now, not only the last one.
When your church publishes notes for a message, their big idea and their headings are what you see on the Overview — in their words and their order. Everything Rewind noticed in the recording now sits underneath the heading it belongs to, instead of in a list of its own.
In a Together gathering you can now read the whole chapter around a passage without leaving the room, and open the sermon itself from the lobby or the big idea. Wherever you go, Back brings you straight to your group.
Church home pages reach the current message sooner, and every sermon tab stays readable and easy to tap on smaller screens.
On small screens, the docked audio player gives playback controls their own row. Listening tools stay within reach, and hiding or showing them keeps your audio playing.
Group leaders: on Groups → This week, the question editor now uses the whole width of your screen — each question’s box grows as you write instead of scrolling inside itself, and the buttons stack so they never sit under the Ask Rewind button. Holding your phone sideways keeps that button small, too.
A devotional day’s question and the Application each keep one response of yours — come back and Add to your response instead of starting a second (for the Big Idea, edit the note you wrote). And when your church publishes its own discussion questions, they are on the Groups tab with Write your response under each, saved as your note with the question kept.
The Notes heading and privacy reminder stay clear of the Ask Rewind button on small screens.
Linking or unlinking a preached sermon updates the open planning slot immediately, without losing your draft. Keyboard focus stays in place while saving, and conflicting edits still receive a warning.
New overviews can group several insights under each church-provided topic while keeping additional teaching visible. Each insight keeps its own Scripture and listening links; existing overviews are preserved.
Where file uploads are available, cancellation now waits for transfers to stop and keeps keyboard focus on the cancel control. Upload availability is unchanged.
The full player wraps its controls on small screens. Resume keeps a comfortable touch target above the player, and keyboard focus stays visible when the player docks.
The review queue now has pages. Older sermons and pending sections remain reachable even when newer sermons are on hold, with a quick return to the newest items.
Planning Center keeps your saved service selections when loading fails. Source-policy changes save one at a time, and stopped folder checks now show their enabled setting with a separate restart action.
An available devotional can start a Together gathering even when the sermon guide is not ready. Next brings the active question into view, and reworded questions are identified as the leader’s own.
Saving, deleting, or sharing a note no longer discards another note you just added. Searching your notes also ignores older results when you change or clear your search.
Church notes guide the big idea and key topics without adding a second copy above your overview. Routine matching details no longer crowd the reading tabs, and audio messages keep their series artwork.
Open a sermon from your notes, Saved, Following, the devotional, search, a speaker or series page, or the home feed, and the top of the page now has a link back to exactly where you were — no more going home and coming back in.
Teaching points, supporting paragraphs, and application headings stay together in the church’s original order. Church links have their own resources section, and notes-first messages can show the series artwork before a recording is available.
Key points and quotes keep their text clear of the three-dot action button, including at larger reading sizes. Church message-note controls also have more space above the sermon tabs.
Under each day’s reflection question on the Devotional tab there’s now Write your response. What you write is saved as a note that keeps the question with it, so it still reads as your answer later on the sermon’s Notes tab and in your Notes. On the Overview, the Big Idea’s menu has Respond to this, and the Application section has its own Write your response.
With notifications on for your phone, Rewind can now tell you when someone in your group shares a prayer request or praise, and when a request is answered. Tapping it opens that prayer. It’s a switch under Settings → Notifications → Your groups. On an iPhone, notifications reach the app on your Home Screen — Settings shows the two taps to add it.
When you or a leader change the words of a prayer after it was shared, the card now says “edited”, with the day it changed. The copied list says it too.
When your leader has chosen questions for a day of the devotional, they now show under that day’s reflection on the Devotional tab and on your devotional page — so reading alone still meets what your group will talk through. In a Together session, older prayer requests tuck under Older like they do on the Prayer tab.
When your leader has chosen the questions for this week’s gathering, they now show on the sermon’s Groups tab under your group’s name, above the guide — so you can read ahead. Leaders can write questions even before a sermon has a guide, and choose questions for each day of a devotional gathering.
A typo, or a request that has changed? You — or your group’s leader — can now edit a prayer request or praise in place, on the Prayer tab and in a Together session. Requests older than a month tuck under an Older heading so the list stays short.
Prayer cards now show just the reactions people have given. Tap React to add yours from the same four — fewer buttons on every card, same ways to say you saw it.
If you’ve turned notifications on for this phone, Rewind can tell you when one of your groups opens a Together session, and when someone reacts to a prayer you shared. Both are switches under Settings → Notifications → Your groups.
When a devotional day’s session closes, the whole group is pointed to the next day’s gathering, with reading it on your own as the other option. The last day says the devotional is complete.
When your group meets, the leader can gather everyone around one day of the sermon’s devotional instead of the sermon walkthrough: read the day’s passage together, sit with its reflection, talk through its question, and pray with its prompt — all on the same shared screen. Your own progress through the devotional stays yours.
While one of your groups is meeting in Together, a slim bar under the header says so on every page — the sermon, the devotional, search — with a Rejoin button. Close it and it stays out of the way for that gathering.
The Talk step now shows all of the discussion questions together, with the one the room is on marked, so nobody loses the thread. Leaders can choose which of the guide’s questions to ask, reword them, or add their own — before the room opens from the Groups tab, or in the room itself.
The Prayer tab now reads as a history: active requests, answered requests with the date they were answered, and praises, each grouped by when they were shared. Cards are tighter on a phone, and Copy list (or Share, on phones that offer it) hands the whole list to Messages or Notes as plain text.
Every prayer request and praise now carries four small reactions — praying, love, praise God, with you — so the person who shared it knows the group saw it. Reactions stay inside your group and show up live in a Together session too.
In a Together session you can now name someone who isn’t in the room — a member who’s out sick, a neighbor, a coworker — when you add a prayer request, instead of choosing only from the people present.
Series pages now show the artwork your church made for the series, taken from where your church already publishes it. It also stands in on a sermon that has notes but no recording yet, so this weekend's message looks like the rest of your church's series instead of a blank card. You'll see this only where your church publishes series artwork.
When your church publishes its message notes ahead of the weekend, the sermon now shows up in Rewind right away — the notes in the church's own words, with a note that the recording will be added after the service. Once the recording is in, the same page fills in with the player and Rewind's breakdown. You'll see this only where your church publishes notes ahead of time.
When a church publishes message notes for a sermon — the big idea, its points, the scripture it opened, reflection questions and next steps — they now sit at the top of the Overview tab under “From” and your church's name, in the church's own words. Rewind's breakdown follows beneath them. You'll see this only on sermons where your church has published notes.
Sermons now have a Notes tab where you can write what stood out — and mark the moment in the message it came from, so a tap plays it back. Your notes are private. Find them all under Notes in your profile menu, and if you want to send one to someone, share the text or turn on a link for just that note.
On the Devotional page, highlight any line of a day and the Ask Rewind button appears, just as it does on a sermon's Devotional tab — the question opens scoped to that message. The day's ⋯ menu now carries Share and Ask about this reflection there too.
On a phone, scrolling down a sermon page now eases the player into its bar at the bottom — and eases it back out when you scroll up. The sermon's artwork softly holds the player's place at the top while you read.
Pick a day and it opens right where you are — no more scrolling past the rest of the week to reach today, and finished days show a check on their pill. Each day's reflection question now stands out in the reader's statement voice, and Daily email settings takes you straight to notifications.
Bible passages in a Together session now use the same reference, reading card and typography in Read sections and discussion questions. Read sections still keep their full-screen reader for sharing the passage with the room.
Application points now use the same clear statement-and-detail rhythm as Key points, with more breathing room and no quote-style rails. The action leads, the explanation supports it, and the section stays readable when you use a larger text size.
In a live Together session, the Big idea screen's “Hear this moment” button now plays the recording right there in the room — tap to listen, tap to pause, and the audio stops when your leader moves the room on. It also lands where the speaker actually says the big idea, not where the message begins.
When a reference points to multiple verse ranges or carries a descriptive note, tapping it now opens the passage beneath the reference instead of taking you away from the sermon page. On the Overview, timestamps and Bible references now line up cleanly; a passage Rewind suggests is marked with a small “related” note instead of a large extra heading.
Profile settings now let you add, correct or clear the name people see for you in Rewind. Your sign-in email and home church role stay visible there too, with a clear note about who manages them.
The Application section on a sermon’s Overview used to be one long paragraph. For new and refreshed sermons it now lists the specific asks the speaker actually made — each a short action line with a sentence on what it looks like this week — and opens with the message’s own charge when the speaker gave one.
During a group session, the session header and Back and Next controls now stay in their own space while the reading scrolls between them. Long next-step names and the progress row fit without covering one another, and Bible references show the actual book, chapter and verse range and open the passage inside readings and discussion questions.
When the speaker says the Big Idea aloud with slightly different wording, that verified quote now stays inside the Big Idea card with its timestamp instead of falling to “Also from this message.” The exact words spoken remain visibly distinct from Rewind’s summary.
Search keeps the same sermon archive in a clearer place, while Devotional and Groups now have homes of their own. Following moved into Profile because the churches and speakers you follow are private to your Rewind account—not part of any church’s site.
On a sermon’s Overview, tapping a Bible reference to read the passage used to move the reference itself down onto its own line — so the thing you had just tapped slid out from under your finger. It now stays put beside the timestamp, and the passage opens underneath it across the full width of the page.
Share, the ⋯ menus, your account menu and the rest of the pop-up panels used to shrink into a cramped desktop-style dropdown when you turned your phone to landscape — sometimes with buttons pushed off the top or bottom of the screen. They now open in the same roomy panel you get holding your phone upright, and every button in them stays big enough to tap.
A sermon’s Overview used to keep the memorable quotes and stories in their own section at the bottom. Now they live with the key point they belong to in the message — a point with quotes or stories carries a small line like “2 quotes · 1 story from life” you can tap open to read them right there. When the speaker says the big idea out loud, the Big Idea card marks those words and lets you jump straight to the moment they were said. And anything we couldn’t pin to a specific key point still appears under “Also from this message.”
Section shortcuts are clearer, Share and the ⋯ menus now open in a roomy panel on phones, Read along moves to every requested match, and scripture ranges stay together on narrow screens without changing copied or shared text.
Each key point on a sermon’s Overview now explains how the speaker developed it, which made the page a long scroll. Those explanations now show the first few lines with a “More” link — tap it to read the rest, tap “Less” to fold it back. Nothing is removed: searching the page still finds the folded text, and copying still copies all of it.
The filters in your church's Search now include a Series dropdown, so you can narrow the archive to one series — on its own, or together with a speaker, a topic and a date range. The From and To date boxes have been fixed too: on a phone they sat on top of each other, and with larger text turned on neither date was fully readable. They now sit one above the other.
If you opened Ask Rewind on an iPad and started typing, the on-screen keyboard covered the panel — including the box you were typing in. It now sits just above the keyboard, the same way it does on a phone.
On a phone, pressing play in the compact player at the bottom of a sermon often did nothing the first time — you had to press it two or three times before the video started. Tapping a timestamp to jump to a moment had the same problem. Both now start on the first tap.
On a phone, Read along used to hide the compact player at the bottom of the screen, leaving you with just play and close at the top. The player is back — while you read it stays at the bottom with playback speed, chapters and the rest of its controls, and when Read along is scrolling along with the message it now keeps the line being spoken clear of it.
After a couple of questions, the box you type into slid off the bottom of the Ask Rewind panel — and with the keyboard up it was gone entirely, so you had to drag the panel around to ask anything else. The box now stays put at the bottom and the conversation scrolls above it. New answers scroll into view on their own, unless you have scrolled back to re-read something earlier, in which case you stay where you are. The panel also opens taller, so you can see about twice as much of an answer while you type, and there is now a “New conversation” button to start a fresh thread whenever you want one.
While a message played, Read along kept scrolling the page to the line being spoken — so if you scrolled back up to reach the controls, it pulled you down again a moment later. Now your own scrolling wins: the page stays where you put it, and a Follow along button appears if you want it to start following again. Close stays pinned to the top of the reader too, along with the play controls when the message has audio, so you can stop it or leave without scrolling anywhere.
If you turned on notifications in Settings, your phone was never going to get one — a setting on our side was written the wrong way and every notification failed before it left. That is fixed, and the sends are now checked, so a new message from your church can reach your phone.
For messages that are audio only, the player shrank to a sliver once it dropped to the bar at the bottom of the screen — there was nothing left to press. It now takes half the bar, so play, pause and the elapsed time are all there while you read, and the listening controls beside it still scroll to reach the rest.
For messages that are audio only, Read along could start playing from a timestamp but had no way to stop — you had to scroll back up to the player. It now has its own play and pause button, the same one video messages already had.
If a church removes a video, makes it private, or turns off embedding, the player used to sit on “Loading the video…” forever. It now offers a link to watch on YouTube instead, carrying the timestamp you came for.
When you scroll down and the player shrinks into the bar at the bottom of the screen, that bar now has its own play and pause button. Before, the only way to start or stop was to tap the small video itself, which often did nothing. The player also slides into place instead of snapping.
Tapping a timestamp in Read along used to throw you back up to the top of the page, away from the words you were reading. Now it starts playing from that line and leaves you exactly where you are. Read along also shows you how to start — tap any timestamp — instead of showing a transcript with nothing highlighted and no explanation. And it now has its own play and pause button, so you can stop the message without scrolling back to the player.
Every action in the ⋯ menu on a sermon — Bookmark, Save moment, Make a clip, Copy link, the share options — did nothing when tapped on an iPhone. The menu was closing itself the instant you touched a row, before the tap could land. All of them work now.
On a phone, tapping Hide on the player bar left the video and its controls exactly where they were and stacked a second row on top of them, so the message title and the Hide button overlapped into each other. Hide now clears the bar down to the title and a Show video button, and tapping that brings the player back.
On a phone, the Ask Rewind button sat on top of the bar the player shrinks into — covering Read along and Chapters, and taking the taps meant for them — while the ⋯ menu and Hide sat past the edge of the screen. Ask Rewind now sits above the bar, and every control in it can be reached. Tapping a timestamp while that bar is showing also no longer jumps you back up to the top of the page.
A problem on our end could drop a device from the list we notify, while the setting on that device still showed as on — so notifications for new messages from your church quietly stopped arriving. Rewind now spots that on its own and puts the device back. If your setting still shows as on, there’s nothing for you to do; if it shows as off, switching it on will set it up again.
Each key point on a message's Overview carries a few sentences on how the speaker developed it — the argument, the story, the passage they worked through — so you get more than a one-line outline. Messages summarized earlier gain this as their overviews are refreshed.
A scripture reference sometimes covers less than what was actually read aloud. When a reference points at particular verses, the expanded passage — on the Scripture tab and on a passage page — now has a “Read the whole chapter” link, so you can keep reading in context.
On a phone the player used to scroll away and stay away — to pause, skip back or open the chapters you had to scroll all the way to the top again. It now shrinks to a bar at the bottom of the screen and stays there while you read, with the video still playing in it.
When a sermon is in the archive before its video is online, the empty thumbnail used to be a blank red block. Cards and lists now show a quiet branded panel with the title (where it fits) and a small audio cue — and when the video arrives, the real YouTube art still takes over.
When a message finishes, the “Keep going” card now offers its devotional alongside the next message in the series. If a message has a devotional but nothing else to suggest, that card appears where it previously stayed hidden.
When a message uses an illustration or the speaker tells a story from their own life, it now shows up under Memorable moments with the time it happened, so you can go straight back to it. The overview also ends with a way into the devotional or the group guide when the message has one.
The big idea and the fuller explanation are one card now instead of two sections saying the same thing twice, and the outline has moved to the Chapters control on the player, where it does something. How long the message runs and how long the write-up takes to read sit with the speaker’s name at the top.
All seven days used to be open at once, so the tab began with a wall of text and getting to day four meant scrolling past three you may have already done. Now the first day you haven’t finished is open and the rest are one tap away, each showing its passage and whether you’ve completed it.
If you have a Rewind account with one church and open a sermon from another, you’ll now see the option to follow that church instead of being asked to sign in — which you already were.
On a phone the sermon’s title used to sit below the player, about halfway down the first screen. Title and speaker now come first, the player follows, and all four tabs fit without sliding — Scripture included. The speed control appears once you start playing rather than sitting there beforehand.
Not every recording is a sermon — a worship night, a concert, a members' meeting. Those used to sit under a summary assembled from the songs and the announcements, or under a promise that study tools were coming. They now say plainly that there's no message in the recording, and you can still listen to it.
If you listen at 1.25×, every message you open now starts at 1.25× — on this device, until you change it. Opening a related message no longer carries over anything else from the one before it either: the tab, the reader and any clip you had started all begin fresh.
Highlighting a sentence to ask about it never worked reliably on a phone. Now every summary, group question and devotional day has an “Ask about this” option in its ⋯ menu, so you can ask without getting the highlight exactly right. Highlighting still works where it always did.
Summaries, group questions and devotional days sometimes point you to a passage that isn’t one of the ones we found in the message itself. Those are now marked “Related passage” — still worth reading, still one tap away. It means we couldn’t match the reference to the message’s own passages, not that it wasn’t preached.
Settings, your preferences and your data export all kept working for everyone except one group: members whose home church was no longer on Rewind. Those pages now load, your preferences save, and Settings offers to make one of your other churches your new home.
When your church posts the audio first and the video a few days later, the video now lands on that same sermon instead of creating a second copy. Your saves and timestamps all stay put — and if the church posts a shorter, message-only cut, jumping to a quote still lands in the right place.
The home feed on your church's site now shows only your own church's messages and content. Sermons from the churches and speakers you follow have their own home on the Following page at rewind.church/following, and your saved items now open at rewind.church/my — same content, one clear place for everything beyond your church.
Put a phrase in quotes — like “living water” — and search now shows only the messages that match it word-for-word, best matches first. Near matches move to a clearly labeled “Related” list below instead of mixing in, and if nothing matches your phrase word-for-word, search tells you plainly and offers to look again without the quotes.
Search results now appear the instant an exact match is found, with related moments filling in right after. Tapping a “Said in the message” result opens the sermon with the audio cued to that moment and the transcript open with your words highlighted. Mistype a name or topic and search offers a “Did you mean…?”; accented names like “Muñoz” now come up when you type them without the accent; sermons you're partway through say “In progress”; and when your search reads like a question, the Ask Rewind option steps forward to answer it.
When you search, results highlight the words you looked for right where they appear — in the sermon title, the speaker's name, the church's name, and the line quoted from the message — so you can see at a glance why each result came up. Accent marks don't get in the way (typing “munoz” still highlights “Muñoz” in a result), and longer forms of your word are highlighted too, so searching “pray” also marks “prayed” and “praying”.
Search on rewind.church now finds sermons across your church and the ones you follow at once — by word, speaker, series, or scripture — and lets you narrow the scope to your church or everywhere on Rewind.
Search on rewind.church now brings together sermons from your church and every church you follow, newest first. Filter by church, speaker, or date, and each card shows which church a sermon is from. Every church's own Search remains limited to that church.
The churches page now has a search box — start typing a church's name or city and the list narrows as you type.
The controls under the sermon player now sit in one compact row — swipe it sideways if you need more. Tap the speed chip to cycle through playback speeds, the way podcast apps do.
Search now finds sermons, speakers, series, topics, or a scripture reference from one box, and lets you choose how far it reaches: just your church, churches you follow, or everywhere on Rewind. Shortcuts jump straight to a speaker, series, or passage page; a one-tap Ask Rewind handoff is there when you want an answer instead of a list; and when you're visiting another church's Search, results stay inside that church's public archive.
Spot something confusing, broken, or missing? Open your profile menu and choose Send feedback. It notes the page you're on automatically, and your church's team reads every report.
Your home church now appears with a Home badge alongside the churches you follow — on your Following page and your Saved page — so everything you belong to and follow sits in one place.
Your Following tab remembers your place in messages from any church you follow, not just your home church. Start a message on one church's page and pick it back up from Following, right where you left off.
The sermon tabs now run Overview, Devotional, Groups, Scripture — and questions moved to the Ask Rewind button, which you can open from any page. Bookmark, share, and clip actions for each point and quote now live behind a single ⋯ button, so the message itself has more room.
Your saved items now live under your profile menu (tap your avatar, then Saved) instead of the main navigation.
Your Following tab now suggests churches and speakers from across Rewind that you might want to follow. Follow one and their latest messages start showing up in your feed.
Home now opens to your own church — this week's message, where you left off, and what's new. The churches and speakers you follow moved to their own Following tab, so everything from beyond your church is in one place.
When other churches on Rewind share their libraries publicly, strong matches now appear under “Elsewhere on Rewind” at the end of your search results.
Search now includes the churches you follow, not just the ones you're part of — you'll see each result's church, and only what that church shares publicly.
Searching for a phrase you remember now works even when the words fall across a break in the transcript — results still jump to the moment it was said.
Search now looks through the messages themselves — type a phrase you remember hearing (put it in quotes for an exact match) and the result jumps to the moment it was said. You can also search by speaker or topic, and a small typo won't get in the way.
