Key points
1God is omniscient — He knows you better than you know you
Pastor Bill walks through Psalm 139:1-2, showing that God examines the heart and knows every thought and action before it happens. He explains the Hebrew word for "see me" actually means to winnow or sort, meaning God can sort us out even when we can't sort ourselves out, especially when our own thoughts feel far from us.
he knows you better than you know you
2Knowing God is the way to truly know yourself
Pastor Bill argues that many Christians still try to find their identity in a spouse, job, or role instead of in who God has already declared them to be. He warns that chasing identity anywhere else is why so many marriage fights and personal struggles never resolve — we're aiming at the wrong thing.
When I don't understand my own thoughts, he does
3God's "no" or "wait" is often His greatest gift of love
Using the picture of a child who thinks a parent isn't listening when told no or wait, Pastor Bill shows that we do the same to God when we assume He hasn't answered. He explains that trusting God's omniscience means believing His answer, even an unwanted one, is protection and love.
No and wait is most often the greatest gift of love that God has ever given us
4God is omnipresent — outside of space and time, He is already there
From Psalm 139:5, Pastor Bill unpacks "you go before me and you follow me," explaining it means God is already in the past, already in the future, and fully present now — not spread thin like a force, but 100 percent present everywhere and every-when. He uses the idea of black holes and relativity to illustrate that time itself is created and not fixed.
5Because God knows everything and is everywhere, He can be trusted to work all things for good
Pastor Bill connects this to Romans 8:28-29, explaining that God causes everything, even bad things, to work together for good for those who love Him, because He already knew us and everything that would happen in advance. He says some of what God allows may not make sense until generations later.

6God is not only with us in knowledge but in presence, even in the pit and the dark
Working through Psalm 139:7-12, Pastor Bill shows the highest and lowest, fastest and farthest, and light and dark all point to the same truth: there is nowhere we can go, even our lowest failure or darkest fear, where God is not already present.
7The infinite God stepped into the finite in Jesus, and what looked like defeat became victory
Pastor Bill explains that Jesus, fully God, became fully man and experienced hunger, exhaustion, rejection, and death so He could relate to us completely. He ties this to communion, saying the cross looked like the most humiliating defeat but was actually the greatest victory, just like his middle school baseball team's one win after seven straight losses became the only thing that mattered.
You're not alone. And you never will be
who cares about the seven losses? All that really mattered was that one win
A story from life

In order to face it all, embrace the all

Application
Pastor Bill's charge is to stop trying to face it all on your own and instead dive into who God is, letting His knowledge of you and presence with you carry you through the season.
Stop finding your identity elsewhere
If you're pulling your sense of self from a marriage, a job, or a role, recognize that as the source of a lot of your fights and disappointment, and instead let God's declaration of who you are define you.
Trust God's no and wait
When you feel like God hasn't answered a prayer, consider that His no or wait may be protecting you, just like a parent's no protects a child, rather than assuming He isn't listening.
Dive into God instead of trying to figure Him out
Rather than picking apart God's ways trying to understand every decision, surrender and jump into trusting Him fully, the way you'd jump into a pool without understanding evaporation.
Remember you are never alone
In your lowest, darkest, or most defeated moment this week, recall that the all-knowing, all-present God is already there with you, and let that truth pull you back toward Him rather than away.
Take communion as a declaration of victory
As you take the bread and cup, don't just mourn the cross as a sad moment — declare hoorah over it, remembering that what looked like defeat was actually the win that secures your eternity.
Take it into your week
