Drawing from Nehemiah's careful preparation before approaching the king, Pastor Bill argues that genuine courageous faith is not a blind leap but a Spirit-directed strategic plan. When we surrender our lives to God's point of view — renewing our minds as Romans 12:1-2 describes — our prayers naturally produce specific, God-aligned plans. Just as Nehemiah spent months praying through exactly what he would need, believers today are called to identify their role in God's mission, make a concrete plan to fulfill it, and trust that where God guides, He provides both resources and direction.

Before anyone can act with genuine courage, their heart must move beyond simply seeing the need to being broken before the God who can meet it. Pastor Bill traces Nehemiah's prayer to show that a broken spirit is both revealed and developed through how we pray: starting with a high view of God, leading to an honest view of ourselves, and culminating in a courageous commitment to God's agenda rather than our own. Without this step, even well-intentioned action risks being driven by pride or fear rather than faith.

Drawing from Nehemiah 1:1-4, Pastor Daniel argues that the first condition of a courageous heart is a 'dislocated heart' — one that, like Nehemiah's, moves from personal comfort toward God's concerns. Courage is not the lack of fear but the willingness to act in spite of it. God looks for ordinary people whose hearts have shifted toward His agenda, and He promises to support and use those who are willing to stop, truly see what He is doing, honestly ask whether they care, and accept the discomfort that always accompanies stepping out in faith.
