Courage and Fear

Pastor Bill draws on lessons from his father, a combat veteran of three wars, to show that following Jesus is not a cruise but a fight we're called into. Real victory comes from embracing hardship, guarding against distraction, holding plans loosely while gripping purpose tightly, refusing to complain, and taking courageous action even when afraid.

There's something beautiful on the other side of courage, and it comes through personal commitment — a pledge that costs something. Like Nehemiah, who modeled sacrifice before asking others to rebuild the wall, we're called to die to self and follow through on what God built us to do, even when it's scary.

God didn't design us to stay safe in the harbor of our lives; He built us for the deep ocean of the calling He has for us. Like Nehemiah, real faith means surrendering completely to God and stepping out even when the door He opens looks scary, trusting Him to show up.
