Good Friday, the darkest day in human history, became the day of our deepest rescue because Jesus took the judgment, the abandonment, and the separation that should have been ours. True spiritual life isn't found in performing religious activity to impress God or others — it's found in honest presence with Him. Peace is a person, not a place, and even a spiritual giant like Elijah could serve God faithfully, see His power, and still end up alone and hopeless under a tree. God is completely consistent in His love for us even though the way He works is often unpredictable, and the hard, out-of-control moments of life aren't Him abandoning us but Him opening a door to a deeper relationship with Him. Escape mentality looks backward to what we lost; engaging with God looks forward to where He's leading, even when that path runs straight through the sea.
