Shame and Redemption

In John 4, Jesus goes out of His way for a divine appointment with a rejected, outcast woman at a well, and she leaves with far more than water — she leaves with living water that changes an entire city. The same is true for us: God brings order to our chaos, fills us with living water, and makes us buckets who carry that water to others.

God's love, proven at Easter, is what changes us — not our performance for Him. When we try to impress God and prove we deserve His love, we end up ashamed when we fail or angry at Him. But when we surrender to the love He's already shown us, that love itself transforms how we see our problems, our relationships, and our lives.

Even a man after God's own heart can be led step by step into devastating sin, but the good news is Jesus already won the war over sin. We are not mistakers who can fix ourselves — we are sinners who need a Savior, and because of what Jesus did on the cross, every sin, past, present, and future, is forgiven.
