Through five lines of evidence — manuscript reliability, historical accuracy, prophetic fulfillment, archaeological confirmation, and transformative power — Pastor Bill makes the case that the Bible is the most trustworthy document in human history. Against the backdrop of Romans 1's warning that people naturally suppress truth and make themselves God, he argues that the evidence for Scripture's reliability is overwhelming, and that honest engagement with it points unmistakably to Jesus as the only answer to humanity's core problem of sin.

In Romans 7, Paul diagnoses the exhausting inner battle every believer faces: the old sinful nature and the new creation are at war, and no amount of willpower or self-reformation can resolve that conflict. The law reveals the problem but cannot fix it. The only way forward is recognizing that the old self is already dead — it is not who we truly are in Christ — and surrendering the fight to Jesus, whose Spirit provides the power to live the life God calls us to. That fuller answer waits in Romans 8, but the honest reckoning of Romans 7 is essential preparation.

Drawing from Psalm 23:1, Pastor Bill teaches that worry is like a fog — unhelpful, unreasonable, unhealthy, and unnecessary — because at its root, worry is an attempt to control life apart from God. The antidote is not mere positive thinking but a genuine surrender to Jesus as Lord. When the shepherd truly is our Lord, we can trust that He provides everything we truly need: guidance, protection, redemption, and even the sure hope of eternity — making worry, even the fear of death, lose its power over us.

In John 8, Jesus confronts people who claimed to believe in Him yet wanted what He offered while rejecting who He truly is. True freedom is not found by following a list of rules or relying on religious heritage, but by personally knowing Jesus — the great I Am — through His Word. To reach that freedom, a person must honestly admit three things: that they are powerless to fix their own brokenness, that the way they are currently trying to make life work is not working, and that without surrendering fully to Jesus, they will inevitably end up opposing Him rather than following Him.

Every marriage struggle has a deeper cause beneath the surface: the unexamined baggage — fears, traumas, dysfunctions, and unhealthy habits — that each person carries into the relationship. Drawing on Romans 7, the sermon argues that self-help principles alone cannot fix what is fundamentally a heart problem. True and lasting change requires recognizing the cause of our brokenness, realizing the consequences of ignoring it, and receiving the cure that only Jesus can provide — through His Spirit, His people, and a willingness to walk a real journey of healing.
