Application
The pastor's challenge is direct: look honestly at the five people closest to you and ask whether they're helping you become more like Christ or pulling you away from Him. This isn't about cutting people off, but about prioritizing friendships that head toward God. He urges believers to stop trying to survive marriage struggles, mental health battles, work stress, or addiction alone, and instead step into real, biblical community, like the church's life groups, where you can be known, supported, and developed. Godly friendship means fighting beside others in shared faith, fighting for them through hard truth and real action, and pointing them back to God when they're losing their grip. Ultimately, our friendships with each other are meant to flow out of and reflect the friendship with God made possible through Jesus's death and resurrection.
