Holiness Over Happiness

No two people on earth are perfectly compatible, and that's not the real problem — sin, rooted in the fall, is the true source of the brokenness that makes marriage and parenting hard. The hope is that through surrendering to the love of Christ and playing the position God gave you, incompatibility can become a strength instead of a breaking point.

Happiness isn't the enemy, and circumstantial happiness is a real gift to celebrate — but it makes a terrible goal, because God's primary aim for us is holiness, not happiness. When we put our hope in God as the source of life rather than the resources He gives, He doesn't just replace our sorrow with happiness — He transforms it into something better than we could have had otherwise.
